The Layman and His Bible
What and Where is Hell?
The aim of this study is to show that the
Bible word "hell"
is used in two distinct ways.
Throughout the study passages below, you will
notice words highlighted in lilac,
or bold or
Italic.
When the text is LILAC move your mouse over the word or words for
a detailed description of what to do with the text in your Bibles.
Some of the passages are written in red text.
These red text passages are
the words of Jesus.
Please open your Bible. Read and mark the passages
accordingly as you study God's Word.
The page Titles are the subject topics. For example "The
Scriptures" is the topic of lesson one.
Write out a reference sheet to the topical verses and keep it with
your Bible for future reference.
16 For the Lord himself
shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice
of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the
dead in Christ shall rise first:
17 hen we which are
alive and remain shall be
caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the
Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.
Revelation 20:6
6 Blessed and holy
is he that hath part in the
first resurrection: on such the second death hath no
power, but they shall be priests of God and of Christ,
and shall reign with him a thousand years.
2 But unto you that

healing in his wings; and ye shall go forth, and grow up
as calves of the stall.
3 And ye shall tread
down the wicked; for they shall be ashes under the soles
of your feet in the day that I shall do
this, saith the LORD of
hosts.
Revelation 20:9, 10
9 And they went up on
the breadth of the earth, and compassed the camp of the
saints about, and the beloved city: and fire came down
from God out of heaven, and devoured them.
6 These are murmurers,
complainers, walking after their own lusts; and their
mouth speaketh great swelling words, having men's
persons in admiration because of advantage.
7 Even as Sodom and
Gomorrha, and the cities about them in like manner,
giving themselves over to fornication, and going after
strange flesh, are set forth for an example, suffering
the vengeance of eternal fire.
Mark 9:43, 44
43And if thy hand offend thee, cut
it off: it is better for thee to enter into life maimed,
than having two hands to go into hell, into the fire
that never shall be quenched:
27 But if ye will not
hearken unto me to hallow the sabbath day, and not to
bear a burden, even entering in at the gates of
Jerusalem on the sabbath day; then will I kindle a fire
in the gates thereof, and it shall devour the palaces of
Jerusalem, and it shall not be quenched.
Jeremiah 52:12, 13
12 Now in the fifth
month, in the tenth day of
the month, which was the
nineteenth year of Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon, came
Nebuzaradan, captain of the guard,
which served the king of Babylon, into Jerusalem,
