The Layman and His Bible
Signs of Christ's Coming
The aim of this study is to
motivate the student to get ready to meet Jesus,
and to prepare for the next three studies.
Throughout the study passages below, you
will notice words highlighted in lilac,
or bold or
Italic.
When the text is LILAC move your
mouse over the word or words for a detailed description of what
to do with the text in your Bibles.
Some of the passages are written in red

are the words of Jesus.
Please open your Bible. Read and mark the

with your Bible for future reference.
Lesson 4 of 29
Luke 21:25-28
25And there shall be signs in the
sun, and in the moon, and in the stars; and upon the
earth distress of nations, with perplexity; the sea
and the waves roaring;
26Men's hearts failing them
for fear, and for looking after those things which are
coming on the earth: for the powers of heaven shall
be shaken.
27And then shall they see the Son
of man coming in a cloud with power and great glory.
28And when these things begin to
come to pass, then look up, and lift up your heads;
for your redemption draweth nigh.
Matthew 24:1-7
1 And Jesus went out,
and departed from the temple: and his disciples came
to him for to shew him
the buildings of the temple.
2 And Jesus said unto
them, See ye not all these things?
verily I say unto you, There shall not be left here
one stone upon another, that shall not be thrown down.
3 And as he sat upon
the mount of Olives, the disciples came unto him privately,
saying, Tell us, when shall these things be? and what
shall be the sign of thy
coming, and of the end of the world?
4 And Jesus answered
and said unto them, Take heed
that no man deceive you.
5For many shall come in my name,
saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many.
7For nation shall rise against
nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall
be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in divers
places.

1 Thessalonians 5:1-3
1 But of the times
and the seasons, brethren, ye have no need that I write
unto you.
2 For yourselves know
perfectly that the day of the Lord so cometh as a thief
in the night.
2 Your riches are
corrupted, and your garments are moth-eaten.
3 Your gold and silver
is cankered; and the rust of them shall be a witness
against you, and shall eat your flesh as it were fire.
Ye have heaped treasure together for the last days.

your fields, which is of you kept back by fraud, crieth:
and the cries of them which have reaped are entered

5 Ye have lived in
pleasure on the earth, and been wanton; ye have nourished
your hearts, as in a day of slaughter.
6 Ye have condemned
and killed the just;
and he doth not resist
you.
4 And saying, Where
is the promise of his coming? for since the fathers
fell asleep, all things continue as
they were from the beginning

30And then shall appear the sign
of the Son of man in heaven: and then shall all the
tribes of the earth mourn, and they shall see the Son
of man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and
great glory.

from sin.
