CALVARY
A crown of thorns upon His head,
Sins of this world made up His bed,
A blood-stained path, His journey led,
On the road to Calvary.
The crowds did gather to despise,
The blood and tears filled in His eyes,
A chorus of hope filled up the skies,
On the road to Calvary.
The jilted words of crowds did peel,
His love and hope, despair did fill,
His heart with hopelessness did kill,
Our God on Calvary.
The King of Kings kept walking on,
One ray of hope, one angels song,
His love was crushed within the throng,
On the road to Calvary.
The hour had come, the storm clouds grew,
The soldiers ran the nails in through,
Both of His hands and His feet too,
Then they hung Him on Calvary.
They mocked and scorned, they scoffed at Him,
They waited for a single whim,
A word of hope above the din,
While He hung there on Calvary.
He raised His head from off His chest,
Opened His mouth and took one breath,
Cried out My God, we’ve done what’s best,
Then He died on Calvary.
The ground did shake as His spirit left,
Jesus Christ had passed His test,
There’s no more separation left,
As He died on Calvary.
They took Him down from off that tree,
They nailed Him up there ‘cause of me,
Yet man was glad to end His plea,
When Christ died on Calvary.
They placed His body into a tomb,
Three days He slept in His Father’s womb,
He returned to us, dressed as a groom,
Now there’s no more Calvary.
Remember friends, it’s plain to see,
Christ died to save both you and me,
There’s no more chains, we’ve been set free,
Now remember Christ’s Calvary….
Please remember Christ’s Calvary….
